Alcohol and Drug abuse

We have a strict policy of no substance abuse and to that end we
take strict action should a learner be found using or in possession of any
banned substance. Please refer to the detailed table below for more information.

 1.  Letter and phone call to parents. Police also informed.

 2.  Refer to School Counsillor.

 3.  Interview with parents, Head of Discipline and learner.

 4.  Parents to pay for urine test.

 5.  Referral to Governing Body Disciplinary Hearing.

      Possible suspension or application for expulsion.

 

 

 

 

USAGE

 Whenever / wherever

a learner is involved

in a school activity

or is representing

the school in any way

 

 

 1st Offence

 

 1.  Refer to counsillor on suspicion of use.

 2.  School will conduct a urine test.

 3.  Notify parents by telephone and letter of outcome.

 4.  Interview with parents, learner, counsillor and

      Head of Discipline irrespective of test results.

 5.  If positive, referral for Drug Counselling paid for

      by parent / guardian.

 6.  Learner to be monitored by random tests if

      continued concerns.

  

 2nd Offence

 

 1.  Learner will undergo a drug test.

 2.  Parents informed.

 3.  Referral to Governing Body Disciplinary Hearing.

 4.  Probable Expulsion.

 

 

 

USAGE

 Not on School

property

 

 

 1.  Meeting with learner and parents.

 2.  Learner will undergo a drug test.

 3.  Referal to rehabilitation paid for by parent / guardian.

 4.  Learner to be monitored by random drug tests if

      continued concerns.

 

 

 

SELLING OR

DEALING IN DRUGS

 

 

 1.  Police will be summoned.

 2.  School and / or Police to notify parents.

 3.  Referral to Governing Body Disciplinary Hearing.

 4.  Probable Expulsion.
